Town Teams in the NEWROC Region

Why this matters

Strong, vibrant communities don’t just happen - they’re built by the people who live there. Town Teams are grassroots groups made up of local volunteers working to make their towns better places to live, work, and visit. By supporting these groups, NEWROC helps build local capacity, leadership, and pride.

Background

Town Teams are community-driven, non-political organisations that collaborate with local governments to bring positive change to main streets, public spaces, and local events. NEWROC is partnering with Town Team Movement to establish and strengthen these groups across its member shires. From beautifying town centres to running community events, each team reflects the unique character and goals of its town.

Purpose

To grow and support Town Teams in the NEWROC region as a sustainable way to empower residents, encourage local leadership, and strengthen town centres through collaboration and action.

NEWROC's Actions

  • Partnering with Town Team Movement to provide support, training and mentoring

  • Helping each member shire establish and resource a local Town Team

  • Promoting shared learning between teams across the region

  • Supporting community-led projects that improve local spaces and engagement
